Mumbai to Malvan

Drive down the scenic Konkan coast from Mumbai to Malvan, exploring the pristine beaches of Ratnagiri and the historic Sindhudurg sea fort. This 4-day road trip blends the experience of the NH66 highway, which is currently undergoing significant widening and construction. While major sections are nearing completion, significant work continues in several areas. The Indapur bypass remains significantly delayed, but the Mangaon bypass project continues to face delays and is now expected to be completed by January 2027. Temporary traffic diversions for Ganeshotsav have concluded. The Chiplun flyover, while having its final slab laid, is unlikely to open for traffic until December 2026, as work on its approaches is still underway. The Lanja flyover is still under construction, with ongoing diversions and potentially challenging service road conditions, though some sections are now cemented. The March 2027 expectation for full seamless connectivity remains highly uncertain. Note that the Atal Setu (Mumbai Trans Harbour Link) has a toll of ₹250 for cars. The temporary toll waiver for Ganeshotsav 2026 (September 11-27) has concluded, and the toll is now fully applicable. As of October 13, 2026, IMD has issued a yellow alert for Goa and hot and humid weather conditions are likely to prevail over Konkan & Goa during October 13-15. Caution is still advised due to potential lingering effects of the monsoon, including unstable ghat roads, potential landslides, and widespread potholes and surface damage on NH66, particularly on the Panvel-Indapur stretch. Experience authentic Malvani seafood, scuba diving in Tarkarli, and mesmerizing sunsets away from the city crowds. Be aware that Malvan itself has very narrow roads and can experience significant traffic.
